This is a customized itinerary, consisting of 9 Days/8 Nights in South Africa.

Spend your first night in Johannesburg to rest after your international flight. The following morning, fly to Cape Town, the “Mother City” of South Africa, where you will spend 4 nights. Highlights during your stay in Cape Town are taking the cable car up Table Mountain, visiting the most south-western point of the African continent, seeing the African Penguins at Boulders Beach, and visiting one of the wine estates in the area. Also, spend a full day exploring the beautiful Cape Winelands with your private driver/guide.

End this trip with your safari experience for 3 nights in a private lodge in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve in the Kruger area. Game viewing here is fantastic and this lovely lodge will enhance your experience in this beautiful area of South Africa.

Sunday, May 22Overnight Travel - Day 01

Depart from the U.S.A. for Johannesburg, South Africa.

Monday, May 23Overnight Travel - Day 02

Upon arrival at the Johannesburg Airport, go through passport control, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Your guide will meet you at International Arrivals and escort you to the City Lodge O.R. Tambo which is conveniently located next to the airport. Check in for 1 night on Bed & Breakfast basis. Dinner is on your own account.

Walking Directions to City Lodge O.R. Tambo:
After collecting your luggage, follow all signs directing you to the City Lodge. You will walk for quite a while, eventually walking along one of the levels of the parking garage, with doors to your left leading into the parking garage and windows to the outdoors to your right. Keep walking along this walkway/passage until it ends with exit doors ahead of you leading into the parking garage. Right before these doors, you will see elevators on your right-hand side with knee-high silver posts in front of them. Take this elevator “up” which will open into the reception area of the City Lodge.

Tuesday, May 24 Cape Town - Day 03

After breakfast, walk to the airport terminal to check in for your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town, be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Cape Town, the Portswood Hotel conveniently located on the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check into your Standard Room for 4 nights on Bed & Breakfast basis.

Enjoy a free afternoon and evening, with lunch and dinner on your own account.

Wednesday, May 25Cape Town - Day 04

After breakfast, with your private driver/guide, visit Table Mountain via the Cable Car (weather permitting), the World’s new Seventh Wonder, or visit Signal Hill (if the weather does not allow the visit to Table Mountain’s summit). Visit Jewel Africa for a diamond cutting demonstration. You will also find exquisitely unique hand-crafted jewelry pieces, authentic African craft, décor, and gift items. Have a City Tour and see some of the places of interest in South Africa’s “Mother City” such as Bokaap before proceeding to the Groot Constantia Wine Estate, the oldest wine estate in South Africa, for a cellar tour and a wine tasting of some of their locally grown wines. You will have lunch at the local restaurant (on your own account).

Return to your hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your own account and can be enjoyed at the hotel or at one of the many restaurants on the V&A Waterfront which lies within easy walking distance.

Thursday, May 26Cape Town - Day 05

After breakfast, depart from your hotel with your private driver/guide. Travel along the beautiful coast to Hout Bay and along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak. Visit Cape Point, the most south-western point of the African Continent. Walk to the lookout point or ride the funicular and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the surrounding area. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Simons Town overlooking False Bay, on your own account. Visit the statue of “Just Nuisance” and hear the story about this legend. After lunch visit the local African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach.

In the afternoon, visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy this beautiful garden and the diverse selection of local plants and flowers. At the exit of the garden is a gift shop worth browsing through.

Return to your hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your own account.

Friday, May 27Cape Town - Day 06

After breakfast, depart for a Full-Day Winelands Tour. Visit this beautiful part of the Western Cape and enjoy all it has to offer. Visit the Taal Monument in Paarl from where you will have beautiful views of the surrounding areas. Visit a local wine estate to taste some of their local cheeses and wines. Enjoy lunch at the local restaurant (on your own account).

Next, travel to Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second-oldest town, to explore the shops and meander through this quaint town. Visit a Brandy Distillery for a tour and tasting. Return to your hotel for a free evening and dinner on your own account.

Saturday, May 28 - Monday, May 30Karongwe Private Game Reserve - Days 7-9

After an early breakfast, your driver will pick you up from your hotel to transfer you to Cape Town International Airport. Check in for your flight to Hoedspruit in the Greater Kruger Park. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, be met and transferred to the Shiduli Lodge in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Check into your Luxury Suites for 3 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon. You will have the chance to see the Big 5 – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard.

A typical day in the Game Reserve:

Each morning, expect an early wake-up call. Gather for refreshments before heading out at first light. The “big cats” may still be around after their night of hunting. Game drives are conducted in open game vehicles with your skilled ranger and tracker to find the animals of Africa for you to admire.

Between your morning and afternoon game drives, have some free time to relax or be treated at the Spa.

Late afternoon, convene for high tea, before departing for the day’s second African Bush Safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs, and watch the sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Tuesday, May 31Overnight Travel - Day 10

After your morning game drive and breakfast, check out and be transferred to the Hoedspruit Airport to check in for your flight to Johannesburg. At the Johannesburg Airport, check in for your international flight back home.

Wednesday, June 1End of Itinerary - Day 11

Arrive back in the U.S.A.
