Overnight USA to Africa
Upon arrival at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, clear passport control and connect to your domestic flight to Cape Town. You’ll be met on arrival by your private driver/guide and transferred to your Cape Town hotel, where you’ll check in for three nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The evening is yours to relax or explore, with dinner at your leisure.
Over the next two days, discover the best of Cape Town and its surrounds. Ride the Table Mountain cable car (weather permitting), visit Signal Hill, enjoy a city tour including the colourful Bo-Kaap district, and stop at Jewel Africa for a diamond-cutting demonstration. Visit Groot Constantia Wine Estate for a cellar tour and wine tasting, and explore local community projects like Original T-Bag Designs. Travel the scenic coastal route to Cape Point, visit the penguins at Boulders Beach, stop in Simon’s Town to hear the story of Just Nuisance, and end the day with a walk through Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to your hotel each evening. Lunches and dinners are on your own account.
After an early breakfast, your driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel to transfer you to the Cape Town Airport. Check in for your flight to Hoedspruit in the Greater Kruger Park. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, be met and transferred to the Shiduli Lodge in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Check into your suites for 3 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon. You will have the chance to see the Big 5 – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.
A typical day in the Game Reserve:
Each morning, expect an early wake-up call. Gather for refreshments before heading out at first light. The “big cats” may still be around after their night of hunting. Game drives are conducted in open game vehicles with a skilled ranger and tracker to help you find the animals of Africa to admire. Between your morning and afternoon game drives, take some free time to go on a guided walking safari and relax or get treated at the local Spa. Late afternoon, convene for high tea, before departing for the day’s second African Bush Safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs, and watch the sun set. Return to the lodge for dinner.
After your morning game drive and breakfast, check out and transfer to Hoedspruit Airport to check in for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg at O.R. Tambo International Airport, collect your luggage and walk to the City Lodge O.R. Tambo, which is conveniently located near the airport. Check in for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis.
After breakfast, check out and walk to the terminal for your flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls. On arrival, pay for your Zimbabwe visa in cash, clear passport control and customs, and meet your driver for a transfer to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. Check into your Standard Room for two nights. A light lunch is available at the lodge (own account), and in the late afternoon, enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Dinner will be served at the lodge at 7:00 pm.
The next morning, enjoy breakfast overlooking the lodge’s waterhole, where wildlife often gathers. Afterwards, take a guided tour of the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls, followed by a visit to the local craft market. Head to Lookout Point for lunch (at your own expense), with optional activities like the Flying Fox or gorge swing available nearby. Spend the afternoon at your leisure before meeting a local historian at 5:30 pm for a fascinating talk on David Livingstone and the falls. In the evening, enjoy a festive traditional dinner with live entertainment at The Boma, before returning to the lodge for the night.
After breakfast and check-out, you will be picked up from the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge and transferred across the border into Botswana. Remember to have your $30.00 in cash for the Botswana Tourism Levy payable at the border. Be transferred to the Chobe Safari Lodge, which lies on the banks of the Chobe River, adjacent to Chobe National Park. If you enjoy bird watching, this is the place to be! Check into your rooms for 2 nights.
Enjoy lunch before departing for your afternoon game activity, a sunset game cruise on the Chobe River. You will have the chance to see abundant game, such as hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, as well as a variety of bird life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
During your stay at Chobe Safari Lodge, two daily safari activities are included, a morning game drive in the Chobe National Park and an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River. During the day, enjoy this lovely lodge and spend time there.
After your morning game activity and breakfast, you will be transferred to Kasane Airport to check in for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, check in for your flight back to the U.S.A.
