Baraka was born in Mbeya, far south-western Tanzania in 1977. Right from his early years, Baraka was always a child that loved playing outside and seeking out any wildlife that may cross his path from chameleons to an array of antelopes.
Straight from secondary school, Baraka enrolled himself in a vocational training for motor vehicle mechanics and defensive driving. Next on his list was First Aid Responder and Basic Life Support courses, which he brilliantly completed with foresight. He knew that the places that he was about to explore, were remote and he was responsible for his clients’ wellbeing. Baraka refreshes his skills each year as do all our guides.
Next on his list of goals was putting himself through a Professional Tour Guide and Wildlife Management course. He carefully selected the correct course from many options in Arusha, he needed the highest standard possible. Baraka truly enjoys viewing wildlife, he never tires because each day is so different to the next. Giving lectures and sharing information with his peers and his clients alike is one of the best aspects of his job according to Baraka. We notice that Baraka has an unending thirst for more information and increased knowledge and is also one of the first guides to sign up for our annual in-house training schemes.
Baraka loves watching giraffes; the elegant gait, the necking, the gregarious relationships and their tactical grazing abilities. All wildlife are superb to watch, but the giraffe attracts his attention all the time and every time!
He specializes in guiding in the English-language and photography clients.
Baraka lives in Arusha with his wife, Mary, and their three children.
