Defined as ‘a floating boutique hotel in a class of her own’ the Zambezi Queen is a 5-star, 42-metre long luxury houseboat offering unparalleled sophistication in one of the most remote locations on the planet. From the moment you step onboard the Zambezi Queen, it becomes apparent that no expense was spared in creating one of the world’s most unique river safari experiences.
The top deck features an enclosed air-conditioned dining room, lounge and bar, as well as an open-air Sun Deck complete with a plunge pool. Each of the 14 suites on Zambezi Queen features air-conditioning and your own private balcony, where you can enjoy unobstructed views of the Chobe River and African landscape beyond.
Best of all, as a guest on the vessel, you can enjoy a truly unique and adventurous river safari holiday while still being surrounded by complete comfort and elegance – the best of both worlds!
A stay onboard the Zambezi Queen is a different kind of safari. For sunrise, you may decide to be up with the birds and for sunset, you watch the game from the vantage point of your balcony, or even from your bed. The choice is yours.
Speaking of birdlife, the Chobe River is the perfect setting for a highly rewarding birdwatching safari. With over 450 species to spot including African skimmers, rock pratincoles and the African finfoot you will.
Along the river bank, you will sight crocodiles and hippos as well as elephant and buffalo. With a bit of luck, you may spot leopard and lion. If you want to experience the enormous diversity and concentration of wildlife up even closer, water-based game drives by boat are offered.
The Chobe River is an unforgettable safari destination. You will experience uninterrupted access to wild animals, absolute silence and awe-inspiring landscapes.
If you wish to spend time on land a village tour will take you by tender boat to a local Namibian village situated on the floodplains of the East Caprivi. Meet village elders and locals and gain a greater understanding of how the inhabitants of this 100-year village live, including their daily challenges and traditions.
Fishing is also offered to guests of the Zambezi Queen. Excellent fishing safaris are available all year round. Try your luck at catching Tiger and Bream fish (on a catch and release basis). Highly knowledgeable guides, top quality tackle and bait, as well as well stocked cooler boxes, make for an epic African fishing experience.
There is no best or worst time to visit the Chobe area because every month offers visitors something special. However, if guests are looking for a pure wildlife experience, the drier winter months from June to August see greater concentrations of game along the banks of the Chobe River. The summer months from November to May see the birdlife explode with the addition of the summer migrants to the area. If you’re a fishing enthusiast, you’ll be excited to know that we have excellent fishing through the summer and winter – it’s just that the techniques we use change.
The Zambezi Queen has 3 set departures per week (Monday/Wednesday are 2-night safaris, Friday is a 3-night safari).
Does soaking up the revitalising Chobe River breeze and appreciating uninterrupted views of the unique African landscape beyond sound like a wonderful experience to you?
