The 2026 September Discover the Wonders of Southern Africa is a customized itinerary, consisting of 12 Days/11 Nights in Southern Africa and requiring 2 travel days/nights.

Upon arrival in South Africa, spend the first night in the Johannesburg Airport area to rest after your international flight.

Begin your journey with a flight and 2 night stay in Chobe, Botswana for river cruise game drives as well as game viewing in the Chobe National Park.
Then, transfer over the border into Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to spend 2 nights. Visit the spectacular Victoria Falls. Experience a sunset dinner cruise on the Zambezi River, and much more.

Next, fly to Cape Town, the “Mother City” of South Africa, where you will spend 3 nights. Some highlights during your stay in Cape Town are taking the cable car up Table Mountain, visiting a local wine estate, visiting the most south-western point of the African Continent, and seeing the African Penguins at Boulders Beach.

Finally, fly to Hoedspruit for your unforgettable safari experience in a Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park area for 3 nights. Game viewing here is fantastic and this lovely lodge will enhance your experience in this beautiful area of South Africa.

Your Journey, Day by Day:

Day 1 – 2: Johannesburg

Johannesburg is one of Africa’s largest and most vibrant cities. It is an economic powerhouse in Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. This bustling city offers a wide range of activities, attractions and plenty to do in and around the city including nearby Pretoria. Downtown is a multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks and ultra-modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organised tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. Soweto, a township steeped in history and a significant part of the Greater Johannesburg metropolitan area, is a popular tourist destination.

Days 3 – 4: Kasane, Botswana

Arrive at the Johannesburg Airport Terminal to check in for your flight to Kasane, Botswana. This is an international flight, so the check-in time is 3 hours prior to departure. Upon arrival at the Kasane Airport, be met and transferred to the Chobe Safari Lodge. Check in for 2 nights. Enjoy lunch before departing for your afternoon game activity, a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. You will have the chance to see abundant game such as hippos, elephants, and crocodiles, as well as bird life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy these days, participating in two daily game activities, namely boat cruises on the Chobe River and game drives in the Chobe National Park.

Day 5:  Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)
Interact with Gentle Giants at the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary

After your morning game drive and breakfast, check out and be transferred by Wild Horizon transfer service to the Kazangula border post to check in with customs for entry into Zimbabwe. Be sure to have your $30.00 in cash to pay for your single-entry Zimbabwe visa when you arrive at the border post. Cross the border and continue your transfer to the Shongwe Oasis Lodge in Victoria Falls. Check into your Deluxe room for 2 nights. You can order a light lunch at the Lodge (on your own account). 

At 3:30 pm be transferred to the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary for an opportunity to interact with the elephants that live there! Learn about the elephants as well as their history and how they came to be in the Sanctuary as well as the threats facing elephant populations today in an interesting and informative talk. You will meet the elephants at the wallow deck and will then be provided an opportunity to interact, pet, feed, and capture photo moments with the gentle giants as well as witness the special relationship the staff shares with the elephants and become a part of it. Marvel at the opportunity to meet these beautiful gray giants up close and personal! After the encounter with these amazing creatures, you will be offered a selection of hot and cold canapés and drinks including local beers, wines, soft drinks, water, coffee & tea.
Return to your lodge.  

At 6:00 pm transfer to the Palm River Hotel for a BBQ dinner on the banks of the Zambezi River.
Return to the lodge for overnight.

Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary Ntaba African Safaris Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary for an opportunity to interact with the elephants that live there! Learn about the elephants as well as their history and how they came to be in the Sanctuary as well as the threats facing elephant populations today in an interesting and informative talk. You will meet the elephants at the wallow deck and will then be provided an opportunity to interact, pet, feed, and capture photo moments with the gentle giants as well as witness the special relationship the staff shares with the elephants and become a part of it. Marvel at the opportunity to meet these beautiful gray giants up close and personal!

Day 6: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Enjoy your breakfast at the lodge.  Depart at 9:50 am and take a walking tour of the spectacular Victoria Falls

Then, be transferred to the Lookout Cafe for lunch (the meal is included; drinks are on your own account). You can also participate in some optional activities on your own account, such as the gorge swing or the Flying Fox.
Return to your lodge.

At 4:25 pm be transferred to the Zambezi River for an unforgettable luxury Sunset Dinner Cruise on the Malachite vessel. Enjoy the abundant wildlife and the beautiful sunset scenes. A three-course meal and drinks are served along the way.

Return to the lodge around 8:30 pm.

Day 7: Cape Town

After breakfast, be transferred to the Victoria Falls Airport and check-in for your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival at the Cape Town Airport, go through passport control and customs and be transferred to your hotel in Cape Town, the Portswood Hotel, conveniently located on the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

Check into your standard room for 3 nights on Bed & Breakfast basis. Enjoy a free evening, with dinner on your own account..

Day 8: Cape Town

After breakfast, with your private driver/guide, visit Table Mountain via the Cable Car (weather permitting), the World’s new Seventh Wonder, or visit Signal Hill (if weather does not allow visit to Table Mountain’s summit). Next, be transferred to the Constancia Glenn Wine Estate (or similar) for wine tasting. Proceed to your next stop, the Groot Constantia Wine Estate, the oldest wine estate in South Africa, for an additional wine tasting and cellar tour before having lunch at this lovely property. 

Return to your hotel for the rest of the afternoon and evening free to spend on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront area,  Dinner is on your own account.

Day 9: Cape Town

After breakfast, depart from your hotel with your private driver/guide. Travel along the beautiful coast to Hout Bay. Continue driving along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak. Visit Cape Point, the most south-western point of the African Continent. Walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the surrounding area.

Visit the local African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. Afterward, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant overlooking False Bay, on your own account.
Return to your hotel for a free evening.
Dinner is on your own this evening.

Days 10 – 12: Karongwe Private Game Reserve

After breakfast, be picked up from your hotel and be transferred to the airport to check in for your flight to Hoedspruit in the Greater Kruger Park. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, be met and transferred to the Becks Safari Lodge in the Karongwe Private Game Reserve.

Check into your Deluxe Safari Suite for 3 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon. You will have the chance to see the Big 5 – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.

A typical day in the Game Reserve:
Each morning, expect an early wake-up call. Gather for refreshments before heading out at first light. The “big cats” may still be around after their night of hunting. Game drives are conducted in open game vehicles with your skilled ranger and tracker to find the animals of Africa for you to admire.

Between your morning and afternoon game drives, have some free time to relax or be treated at the Spa. Late afternoon, convene for high tea, before departing for the day’s second African Bush Safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs, and watch the sunset. Return to the Lodge for dinner.

 

Day 13: Overnight Travel

After your morning game drive and breakfast, check out and be transferred to the Hoedspruit Airport to check in for your flight to Johannesburg and then your connecting flight back to the USA.
