Upon arrival in South Africa, spend the first night in the Johannesburg Airport area to rest after your international flight.

Begin your incredible journey with a flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, where your exclusive Gluten Free Safari begins. Spend 3 unforgettable nights surrounded by natural beauty. Indulge in a luxurious sunset dinner cruise on the Zambezi River, marvel at the spectacular Victoria Falls. Sharing heartwarming encounters with elephants at the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary. Savor delicious gluten free dining at the Lookout Café and Dusty Road, where authentic flavors meet warm Zimbabwean hospitality.

Experience the vibrant Cape Town, “Mother City” of South Africa, for a 3 night stay. Your Journey, Day by Day:

Day 1 : Johannesburg

Upon arrival at the Johannesburg International Airport, go through passport control, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Walk toward the exit and through the glass sliding doors into the atrium where you will be met by your Ntaba escort holding a name board. Your escort will walk with you to the City Lodge O.R. Tambo Hotel which is conveniently located next to the airport. Check in for 1 night on a Bed & Breakfast basis. Dinner is on your own account.

Johannesburg is one of Africa’s largest and most vibrant cities. It is an economic powerhouse in Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. This bustling city offers a wide range of activities, attractions and plenty to do in and around the city including nearby Pretoria. Downtown is a multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks and ultra-modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organised tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. Soweto, a township steeped in history and a significant part of the Greater Johannesburg metropolitan area, is a popular tourist destination.

Days 2: Victoria Falls – Zimbabwe

After breakfast, check out and walk to the Johannesburg Airport terminal to check in for your flight to Victoria Falls. This is an international flight, so check-in time is 3 hours prior to departure. Be sure to have your $30.00 in cash to pay for your single-entry Zimbabwe visa when you arrive at the Victoria Falls Airport. Go through passport control, collect your luggage, and proceed through customs. Be met at the airport and transferred to the Palm River Hotel to check into your deluxe rooms for 3 nights. You can order a light lunch at the Lodge (on your own account). 

Later this afternoon be transferred to the Zambezi River for an unforgettable luxury Sunset Dinner Cruise (Gluten Free) on the Malachite vessel. Enjoy the abundant wildlife and the beautiful sunset scenes. A three-course meal and drinks are served along the way.

Return to the lodge around 8:30 pm.

It is set on the magnificent Zambezi River which creates the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. These spectacular falls can be easily visited and viewed from the Zimbabwean side. Considered to be the world’s widest waterfalls, Victoria Falls measures an impressive 1708 metres in width. The small town of Victoria Falls, which lies adjacent to the waterfalls, serves as a great base from which to explore the many attractions this area of Zimbabwe has to offer. The surrounding area provides a wide range of adrenalin-filled activities for adventure lovers. Visitors can look forward to an array of wonderful activities including: scenic flights, micro lighting, white water rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking, and once-in-a-lifetime expeditions into the incredible Chobe National Park.

 

Day 3: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

  • Gluten Free Riverside Dining Experience: An Authentic African-Style Barbeque Dining

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Next, be transferred to the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary for an opportunity to interact with the elephants that live there! Learn about the elephants and how they came to be in the Sanctuary. Witness the special relationship the staff shares with the elephants and become a part of it. You will meet the elephants at the wallow deck and will then be provided with an opportunity to interact, pet, feed, and capture photo moments with the gentle giants. Marvel at the opportunity to meet these beautiful gray giants up close and personal! After the encounter with these amazing creatures, you will be offered a selection of hot and cold canapés and drinks including local beers, wines, soft drinks, water, coffee & tea.

Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary Ntaba African Safaris Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary for an opportunity to interact with the elephants that live there! Learn about the elephants as well as their history and how they came to be in the Sanctuary as well as the threats facing elephant populations today in an interesting and informative talk. You will meet the elephants at the wallow deck and will then be provided an opportunity to interact, pet, feed, and capture photo moments with the gentle giants as well as witness the special relationship the staff shares with the elephants and become a part of it. Marvel at the opportunity to meet these beautiful gray giants up close and personal!

After the Elephant Encounter, be transferred to the Lookout Cafe for a gluten free lunch (the meal is included; drinks are on your own account).

Return to the hotel for an afternoon at your leisure.  At around 7:00pm you will dine on the banks of the Zambezi River.

The Riverside Dining Experience offers authentic African-style barbeque dining within an unparalleled setting on the edge of the Zambezi River. The diverse menu includes traditional Zimbabwean specialties, fresh salads and flavor-filled side options.

Day 4: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Victoria Falls – The Falls

After breakfast, we go back in time with a railway tram ride aboard the Bamba Tram!  Pick-up time is currently scheduled for 8:00 am but it could be as early as 5:15 am. Please check with your lodge reception the day before what your pick-up time will be. Be transferred by Wild Horizons to the railway station. Start your journey through the Zambezi National Park watching for game along the way. Pass the entrance to the rainforest before crossing the Zimbabwe border post. Make your way onto the Historic Victoria Falls Bridge where you stop for refreshments at a Tea and Coffee setup station. Take a short, guided tour of the bridge, the Zambian knife edge peninsula, and the railway museum. Learn about the history of the railway and the building of this bridge. Be sure to bring your camera for the most incredible photo opportunities.

After the Bamba Tram Ride, be returned to your hotel for some free time.

Transfer to the Dusty Road Restaurant for lunch (gluten free). Dusty Road is a traditional Zimbabwean restaurant situated in the bustling heart of Chinotimba, the largest and oldest township in Victoria Falls. Meals are cooked the Zimbabwean way: on open fires and in cast iron pots and ovens, giving guests an authentic, wholesome and tasty food experience. 

Next, take a walking guided tour of the spectacular Victoria Falls.  Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure. 

Later be transferred to The Cassia Restaurant for a gluten free gourmet dining experience.

Day 5: Cape Town

After breakfast, check out and be transferred to the Victoria Falls Airport to check in for your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival at the Cape Town International Airport, met at Arrivals by a representative with a name board and transferred to your hotel in Cape Town, the Commodore Hotel, conveniently located on the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check into your standard room for 3 nights on Bed & Breakfast basis.

Enjoy a free evening, with dinner on your own account. This can be enjoyed either at your hotel or at one of the many restaurants at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront within easy walking distance from your hotel.

Day 6: Cape Town

After breakfast, meet with your private driver/guide, and visit Table Mountain via the Cable Car (weather permitting), the World’s new Seventh Wonder, or visit Signal Hill (if weather does not allow visit to Table Mountain’s summit). Visit The Diamond Works for a diamond cutting demonstration. You will also find exquisitely unique hand-crafted jewelry pieces, authentic African craft, décor and gift items.

Take a City Tour and see some of the places of interest in South Africa’s “Mother City” before proceeding to the Groot Constantia Wine Estate (or similar) for a gluten free lunch and wine tasting of some of their locally grown wines.  In the afternoon spend some time at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for shopping and other attractions.

Return to your hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your own account.

Day 7: Cape Town

After breakfast, depart from your hotel with your private driver/guide. Travel along the beautiful coast to Hout Bay. Continue driving along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive. Visit Cape Point, the most south-western point of the African Continent. Walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the surrounding area.

Visit the local African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. Afterwards, enjoy a gluten free lunch at a local restaurant overlooking False Bay. In the afternoon, visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy this beautiful garden and the diverse selection of local plants and flowers. At the exit of the garden is a gift shop worth browsing through.

Return to your hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your own account.

Days 8 – 11: Blue Canyon Private Game Reserve

After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport. Check in for your flight to Hoedspruit in the Greater Kruger Park. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, be met and transferred to the Leopard’s Bend Bush Lodge in the Blue Canyon Private Game Reserve. Check into your Superior Lodge Rooms and the Mongoose Manor for 4 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon. You will have the chance to see the Big 5 – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.

A typical day in the Game Reserve:

Each morning, expect an early wake-up call. Gather for refreshments before heading out at first light. The “big cats” may still be around after their night of hunting. Game drives are conducted in open game vehicles with your skilled ranger and tracker to find the animals of Africa for you to admire. Between your morning and afternoon game drives, have some free time to relax or be treated at the Spa. Late afternoon, convene for high tea, before departing for the day’s second African Bush Safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs, and watch the sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Mongoose Manor features two en-suite bedrooms with air conditioning, a kitchen with fridge, a comfortable lounge, and a private patio – ideal for a relaxing stay.

 

Day 12: End of Itinerary
 
After your morning game drive and breakfast, check out and transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for you flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, connect with your departing flight back home.
