Your Journey, Day by Day:

Day 1: Cape Town

Arrive at Johannesburg Airport, where you’ll clear passport control and customs before connecting to your flight to Cape Town. On arrival in Cape Town, your private driver/guide will meet you and transfer you to the Commodore Hotel, ideally situated on the iconic Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Settle into your standard room for a 3-night stay on a bed & breakfast basis. The evening is yours to relax and explore at your leisure, with dinner at your own expense.

Day 2: Cape Town – Scheduled City Tour: Table Mountain, Noon Gun & Cape Town Highlights

(Group tour | Approx. 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM)

Today, you’ll join a scheduled group tour to discover the best of Cape Town. Your guide will collect you from your hotel around 8:00 AM for a scenic and enriching day in the Mother City.

Start with a drive along the Atlantic Seaboard, taking in the pristine beaches of Camps Bay, Clifton, and Sea Point. Pass by Cape Town Stadium and through the V&A Waterfront before reaching the city centre, where you’ll visit Green Market Square and stretch your legs with a walk through the beautiful Company’s Garden.

Next, enjoy a drive past key historic landmarks—the Houses of Parliament, City Hall, the Castle of Good Hope, and the Slave Lodge—before entering the colourful Bo-Kaap (Malay Quarter), known for its vibrant homes and cobbled streets. Discover the area’s rich cultural heritage and history.

Continue to Jewel Africa for the fascinating Diamond and Tanzanite Experience, where you’ll uncover the secrets behind these precious African gems.

Head up to Signal Hill to witness the famous firing of the Noon Gun, a Cape Town tradition. Then, make your way to Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Weather permitting, you’ll have the option to purchase a ticket and ride the cable car to the summit for breathtaking views across the city and coastline. Alternatively, enjoy the views from the lower station.

After taking in the scenery, you’ll return to your hotel by around 2:30 PM. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free to explore the V&A Waterfront at your leisure. Dinner is at your own expense.

Days 3 & 4: Cape Town – Cape Peninsula & Township Experience

Day 3: Cape Peninsula Tour (Private)
After breakfast, set off with your private driver/guide for a full-day journey along the breathtaking Cape Peninsula. Your first stop is the inspiring Original T-Bag Designs in Hout Bay, a creative community project that turns recycled tea bags into beautiful artwork.

Continue along the dramatic Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the most scenic coastal routes in the world, en route to Cape Point, the most south-westerly tip of Africa. Take a short walk to the top for panoramic views over the rugged coastline.

Enjoy lunch (on your account) at a local restaurant overlooking False Bay, then visit the charming African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach. On your return journey, stop in Simon’s Town—South Africa’s Naval Base—to meet the statue of “Just Nuisance,” the beloved Great Dane who became a naval legend.

In the afternoon, explore the lush and expansive Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is home to a diverse array of indigenous flora. Don’t miss the lovely gift shop at the exit.

Day 4: Morning Township Tour (Scheduled Group Tour)
Today, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Cape Town’s social history and cultural diversity on a half-day scheduled township tour. You’ll be collected from your hotel around 8:30 AM and join other guests for this eye-opening experience.

Begin with a visit to District Six, once a vibrant, multicultural area forcefully cleared during apartheid. See its mosques and churches and learn the powerful story of its displaced community.

Next, explore the Cape Flats, stopping in Langa, Cape Town’s oldest formal township. Visit the local market, arts and crafts centre, and perhaps even encounter a traditional healer. You may also visit a crèche (nursery school), depending on opening times.

Drive through other well-known townships including Bonteheuwel, Nyanga, Crossroads, Khayelitsha, and Gugulethu, where you’ll see memorials honouring the Gugulethu Seven and Amy Biehl.

Days 5 & 6: Franschhoek & the Cape Winelands

Day 5: Arrival in Franschhoek
Later this morning, you’ll be met and transferred from Cape Town to your hotel in the heart of the Cape Winelands. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore the charming town of Franschhoek at your leisure. Known as South Africa’s food and wine capital, this picturesque village is filled with boutique shops, art galleries, and world-class restaurants.

Day 6: Full-Day Winelands Tour
After breakfast, set off on a full-day guided tour of the stunning Winelands region.

Begin with a visit to the iconic Taal Monument in Paarl, where you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the valley. Then, head to a local wine estate to sample a selection of fine wines and cheeses produced in the area.

Enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant (at your own expense), followed by an afternoon visit to Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second-oldest town. Stroll the oak-lined streets, browse unique shops, and soak up the town’s historic charm.

Your final stop is a local brandy distillery for a guided tour and tasting session. Afterwards, return to your hotel in Franschhoek for a free evening. Dinner is on your account—perhaps try one of the town’s renowned eateries.

Days 7–10: Kapama Private Game Reserve – Safari Adventure

Day 7: Travel to Kapama & First Game Drive
After an early breakfast, check out of your hotel and transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Hoedspruit, located in the Greater Kruger region. On arrival, you’ll be met by your ranger and transferred in an open safari vehicle to Kapama River Lodge, your home for the next four nights in the heart of the Kapama Private Game Reserve.

Check into your comfortable standard suite, enjoy a delicious lunch, and prepare for your first afternoon game drive—an exciting introduction to the African wilderness.

Days 8–10: Life on Safari
Your days at Kapama follow the rhythm of the bush, offering an unforgettable blend of adventure and relaxation:

  • Early morning wake-up call followed by tea, coffee, and light snacks
  • Morning game drive at sunrise, when predators may still be active from their night hunts
  • Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some leisure time—perhaps unwind by the pool, visit the spa, or join a guided bush walk for a more intimate experience of the wild
  • High tea in the late afternoon, followed by a sunset game drive with a scenic sundowner stop
  • Return to the lodge for a delicious dinner under the stars, sharing stories from the day around the fire

With expert guides and trackers, you’ll have the chance to spot the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—along with countless other incredible species in their natural habitat.

Day 11: End of Itinerary

After your morning game activity and breakfast, check out of the lodge and be transferred to the Hoedspruit Airport to check in for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, check in for your flight back to the U.S.A.
