Any new adventure you decide to embark on, one of the top concerns is knowing what in the world to bring with you! What’s important? What’s useless? What’s the one thing you’d never think about but is absolutely necessary?
Each of our clients are provided with a detailed packing list, among other helpful bits well before their departure. But, let’s whet your travel appetite with a taste of what you’ll be bringing!
- Camera!
You’re gonna take a load of photos that will become your best souvenirs to show off to your curious friends and family once you’re back home! Make sure you bring a reliable piece of equipment that you are comfortable using to capture your favorite moments. - Clothes
Make choices that are light colored & breathable for the game drives. The early morning game drives and late evenings on the patios may call for a little more coverage- a light jacket & pants should be sufficient. On free days about in the cities, color & weight of clothing is up to you! - Shoes
Lightweight sandals & a pair of walking shoes will be all you’ll desire. - Sunglasses & a hat
You’ll want good coverage for when you’re in the beautiful African sun. - Waterproof/quick drying items
When visiting the magnificent Victoria Falls expect to get damp! Choose clothing & footwear that you don’t mind getting wet. - Swimming attire
You’ll have the opportunity to indulge in some pool time so you’ll want to make sure you have something nice to take a dip in. - PJ’s
You’ll love snuggling up in your room after an exciting day- bring something comfy! - Underoos
Nothing specific…we’ll let you handle this one. - Extras
Extra batteries, extra sim cards, extra hair ties~ anything you know that you use in your regular arsenal that you’ll need a back-up for. This isn’t permission to go nuts. No extra high heels, ball gowns, or hair dryers (or any at all for that matter)! - Toiletries
We’ll have lots of tasty meals, so double check that you have your toothbrush & paste! Prescription drugs, insect repellent, sun screen. Lip balm is a must for our resident pro, Robin! - Binoculars
This is one thing you may not take on all of your trips, but you may appreciate them when you’re in the bush searching out those creatures in the distance.
No worries though- you’ll have professional spotters on the front of your vehicle to do the hard work for you. - Flashlight
Don’t bother your roomie flipping the lights on or bumping around your room at night. - Documents
Show up to the airport prepared! Passport & airline tickets in hand. Cash, cards, etc, securely tucked away, but easily accessible when necessary. - A day pack
Something easy to carry your daily effects in, including your itinerary & a pen to jot down those names of people you meet that you want to tell a story about later.
Our owners, Robin & Stella Mountain suggest, a nail file, not too much clothing, a good sun hat, a small gift for your home hosted lunch (included in some itineraries!), & a sense of humor! Africa is a happy place to be & you’ll enjoy interacting with its people during your stay.
All in all, keep in mind to be conservative & smart with what you choose to haul across the world with you. Do some research of your own to make you more prepared & confident about what to expect. Reference other blogs if that’s your thing. Or, just stick to our list once you’ve booked with Ntaba African Safaris. We will steer you in the right direction- it’s what we do!
Most importantly, pack your smile! Maybe a few extras in case you wear the 1st one out.
