Overnight USA to Africa

Arrive at the Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) in Tanzania. Be met and transferred to The African Tulip in Arusha for overnight. Check into The African Tulip for 1 night. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Pre-safari briefing.

After breakfast, check out of your hotel, be met by your private driver/guide and transfer to the Tarangire National Park for game driving and exploration. Drive to the Maramboi Tented Lodge and check into your tent for 2 nights on Full Board Basis.

Spend the next full day in the Tarangire National Park, game driving and exploring. A box lunch will be provided. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

The game vehicles used are extended pop-top land cruisers with a maximum capacity of 6 people per vehicle, with each person having their own window seat.

Tarangire to Esilalei to Ngorongoro Crater:

After breakfast have an early morning transfer to Esilalei to walk with the Maasai, then transfer to descend into the crater floor for game driving. Enjoy a box lunch and visit a craft market along the way. Return to the crater rim for sunset and overnight. Check into the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge for 1 night. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

Transfer to the airstrip for your flight from Manyara to the northern Serengeti. Be met at the airstrip by your drivers for game drive to the camp for lunch. Check into Kaskaz Mara Camp for 3 nights. Afternoon game driving in the Serengeti. Dinner will be served at the camp under the stars.

Next 2 days have a full day game driving and exploring in the far northern Serengeti with possible migration and crossing viewing. The travelers in each vehicle can decide how they would like to spend the day, either heading out for the entire day on game drive, taking along a picnic lunch; or going for a game drive in the morning, returning to the lodge for lunch and a rest, and heading out again for a game drive in the afternoon. Dinner will be served at the lodge.

* The luggage allowance on charter flights is 15kg for ALL luggage, including your hand luggage. Soft duffels are preferred but smaller suitcases are also allowed.

Morning game driving and exploration in the Serengeti. Return to camp for lunch. In the afternoon, check out and transfer to the airstrip for your charter flight to Kigali, Rwanda, departing at 16:00 and arriving in Kigali at 17:20. This charter flight is in light aircraft with limited luggage allowance*. Be met and transferred to the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. This drive takes approximately 2.5 hours. Check in for 2 nights. Dinner will be served at the hotel. Pre-gorilla briefing.

After breakfast be transferred to Volcanoes National Park for Gorilla trekking. The lodge is located 15 minutes from the park gate. Before your trek, there is a cultural show while permits are processed. You will be allocated to your trekking groups and your national park guide will be doing the actual gorilla trek briefing in terms of what to expect on the trek, etc. After your trek, return to the lodge for an afternoon at your leisure.

After breakfast the following morning, visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, a community development and conservation project. Return to Kigali (a drive of approximately 3 hours). Visit Acts4Rwanda, a not-for-profit organization that assists orphaned and vulnerable Rwandan children who are unable to further their education by providing school fees and spiritual nurturing. Next, take a town tour; if time permits, optional visit to sites such as the Genocide Memorial.

Check into a day room at the Chez Lando Hotel to rest and freshen up. Enjoy an early Farewell Dinner before being transferred to the Kigali Airport (KGL) to check in for your flight to the U.S. – Arrive back in the U.S.A. the following day.
